Bachelor of Theology
Purpose and Nature
Programs granting the Bachelor degree are designed primarily to qualify graduates to function as leaders or ministers, able to be effective communicators and leading to the achievement of a holistic graduate profile appropriate to this award level.
Objectives of the Course
This course will help the students to:-- Understand God’s Word and apply it in his/her context.
- Enhance their Spiritual life and instill a passion for Christ-likeness.
- Be nurtured as servant-leaders who are actively involved in the life and ministry of the Church.
- Acquire skills for a Spirit-empowered ministry appropriate for their context.
- Promote integration of Christian reflection and action.
Entrance Requirements
- Successful completion of 12 years of schooling or its equivalent. In certain countries this standard may vary.
- In special cases, mature candidates (aged 25 and above) who have not completed their schooling may be admitted upon fulfilling a qualifying assessment.
- Students with a previous Bachelor award from a recognized institution may apply for advanced standing equivalent to one (1) year Full Time Equivalent (FTE) of studies. Thus, they may request a credit transfer of up to a maximum of 30 general studies credits toward the 120 credit Bachelor of Theology, enabling them to complete the BTh with a further 90 credits of theological studies. Mode of Study
Bachelor of Theology is offered in a modular system (one subject at a time). Course content is delivered through recorded lectures, live interactive sessions (optional), and other study aids.
Period of Study
One has to complete at least 36 modules or 120 credits to attain this degree. Each module may last for a duration of 4 weeks to 8 weeks depending upon the learning ability of the student and the credit hours of the particular subject. Further extension can be allowed only on payment of an extension fee.

Graduation Requirements
Students must fulfill the requirements as per the demands of the academic council of the IPCTSK and ATA. Apart from the credit requirements, COTS gives prime importance to the character formation, spiritual development, and ministry commitment of the students. The character formation of a student is assessed with the help of a mentor. The spiritual development and the ministry commitment of a student are assessed through a ministry supervisor.
